The JDM brand is a play on his name, James Derek Musgrave, and goes all the way back to Derek's first small business adventures, Musgrave All Trades. That was in the early 2000's when Derek was settled into his military career and working small construction and web design jobs on the side. In 2014, Derek got into 3d game modding and JDM Farming began as a gamer tag. As Derek evolved as a programmer, JDM Digital emerged. Derek retired from active U.S. military service in 2021 and is now offering all the talents he honed over the first half of his working life through his new business name, JDM Enterpise.

Derek's Bio

Derek grew up in a rural area of America's Heartland where his family and community instilled a strong work ethic in hime before he joined the U.S. Air Force immediately after high school. Derek never shyed away from learning new trades and was bluecolar even when he joined the white colar ranks. Throughout his 24 year tenure in uniformed services, he has gained technical experience and leadership skills as a Civil Engineer Structural Craftsman for eight years and as a Career Safety Professional for the last 16 years of his distinguished career.

Derek volunteered as a fire fighter/EMT in two of his military communities just as he volunteered in three of his church communities. He served on church boards and as a youth director. The servant leader he is, Derek also served on many special interest groups and executive planning teams exclusively for military communities.

Upon approval for retirement, Derek began his transition to civilian life through the DoD Skillbridge opportunity. He found a Skillbridge partner with a career path that meets both of Dereks goals: teach and get fully immersed into the Information Technology (IT) industry. During the day, Derek is an instructor for K-12coders.com helping other veterans transition from active service life and learn new IT skills. Off the clock, Derek stands ready to consult for you, make repairs for you, or help you meeting your tech goals.

Trivia: Why does Derek go by James in some cases and Derek in other cases? Derek's dad is also a James but not a Sr. so growing up,family and friends knew him as Derek. When Derek joined the workforce, he began using his payroll signature and transitioned to using James when meeting new people; therefore, at work, Derek will go by James and in private life, he'll go by Derek.
